A very promising new Tag to follow marine animals in their daily lives. Marine Mammals are often very unknown and mysterious for the earthlings that we are!
Cost is often a problem in marine science and the project of this tag is to be affordable for all.
In summary:
A tag the size of a computer mouse which is composed of a (PCB printed circle board), an RPox (reflective pulse oximeter) which will allow to measure the oxygen supply in the blood and thus to calculate for the first time the heartbeat of the animal.
The Tag can record the sound and orientation of the animal.
The tag is non-invasively attached with suction cups and its pressure resistance is up to 3 bar It has an aerodynamic shape that even allows it to attach itself to sharks, rays, perhaps even large fish, in addition to whales and dolphins.
The tag will be open source
